Day 20 ~ As a Butterfly

It is so beautiful and amazing to me that I am given an opportunity for a new start, each and every day. This is indeed an undeserved chance for me to make changes to better myself and the world around me. I rarely utilize this gift to a degree I could. Silly, lazy, selfish Mary. I hope and pray today will be a day, the first of many, in which I enact the LORD’s will rather than my own.

In continuing my St Joseph Novena journey, day 7, the intention is that we be more like St Joseph. He was a willing and righteous servant of God, doing God’s will, with great obedience. The butterfly is much the same as St Joseph. It goes from flower to flower, with disregard for any potential of danger…remember Mary and Joseph fleeing from Harod?…giving birth in a stable?…or their trip to Egypt? The butterfly goes about collecting the pollen which spreads vital components of new life, bringing beauty to the world…just as Joseph took up Mary and Jesus Christ as the precious gifts they are to all of the world. As the butterfly takes the pollen to other flowers and plants, Mary’s husband strove to protect the Blessed Mother and the Son of God, and took them where the Lord instructed… bringing the vital Word and the beauty of undeserved redemption to us all.

Now we choose. Will we further pollinate the Word of the Lord to the world, or leave the beauty where it is only to die and leave a world of death and destruction as our legacy. Our actions small and large matter. Please spread kindness and love. Please stand against injustices like abortion, racism, classism, and hatred and be vocal about it, whether that means talking to your family and friends about these things, or writing to legislators to bring about the necessary changes in our world. Please pray for world leaders to see, hear, and utilize God’s will and guidance to bring about peace once again. Let’s be God’s hands and feet on earth. He’s counting on us.
