To paraphrase the homily from Easter Mass, Love died on Good Friday, was silent on Holy Saturday, and returned to us on Easter Sunday when Christ rose from the dead.
His sacrifice for our salvation was the most amazing gift ever given. He gave all, for all, and that gift is always there, but a gift unaccepted is wasted. When we truly accept the love of Christ, it is amplified through us and pours out into the world. Yes, our faith and belief in Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection, are vital. Our love for Him, shown through our actions of love towards others are the true measure of our acceptance. We are called to be a reflection of Him!
I saw a sign that said something to the effect of, “I only love God as much as I love the person I like the least.”..truth and profundity in one sentence, showing me a deep need for change within me. So I keep striving to be and do better.
May the world and each person accept the love of God, given through Christ and through each of us, and may we do so fully. May we truly receive the peace, grace, compassion, hope, mercy, and love of Christ and let it pour out from each of us, changing and healing the world one action and one moment at a time… Lord, let it begin within me.
He is risen! He is Risen indeed! Alleluia!
