Day 19 ~ O, to have a Happy Death

Today the intentions for the St Joseph Novena I am participating in are for those nearing their death from this world to have a happy death. Joseph is the patron saint of many things, among which is, a happy death. It is presumed he had among the happiest of deaths, in the arms and love of his wife, the Holy Blessed Mother, and his stepson, Jesus, the Son of God. As a human, what could be better?

Some would say death is not a happy time, and it is true that death can be a sad and challenging experience, not only for the one dying, but even more so for those that remain behind who mourn them. Some die in great pain, and miserable, not knowing Jesus or the joys of a life lived for Christ. Others, though in pain, die in the peace and ecstatic joy of Christ’s presence, as they offer their pain in union with His Passion. Christ is our bridge and the path to eternal life with God! I want that for myself and my loved ones.

I’m praying today for every heart to have that relationship with Christ that allows them the joy of a happy death, after a fruitful and passionate life of grace and compassionate mercy.

I am praying for you. Please, pray for me too. You are each deeply loved! ~ Mary
